LET US TRAIN YOUR DOG...
Pocotaligo's obedience training is open to all breeds. Consisting of a four-week course, we require dogs to stay at the kennel during training. Basic commands such as heel, sit, kennel, down, here and no are covered. We also train you, the owner, as well during one-on-one sessions.
GUN DOG TRAINING
Our head start puppy program is a 6 to 8 week course open to all gun dog breeds under the age of six months. A pup's experiences prior to six months of age play a crucial role in determining his or her ultimate potential as a gun dog. Pocotaligo's course is designed to get your future hunting buddy off to the right start. Pups will be socialized, introduced to bumpers, birds, gunfire, boats, decoys, etc. and will see plenty of puppy marks. Weather permitting, water work will be included.
Our gun dog program includes custom services offered to suit your personal shooting situation. Dogs are individually trained and owners receive personal instruction covering how to handle their dogs in the field. A basic 3- to 4-month course produces a non-slip retriever ready for the dove field or duck blind. Advanced training to include multiple marks and/or blind retrieves can be facilitated, but requires a longer stay.
We also offer training and handling for retriever competitions.
